Our newest recruit class of WCSO Search and Rescue program participated in field training exercises to prepare for their role as Cadets.
All new recruits attend the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Academy, a 12-day training hosted in a collaborative effort with the Tillamook and Clatsop County Sheriff’s Offices.
After the academy, our members enjoy training throughout the year during regular meetings on weekday evenings and during some weekends. Training, like Search and Rescue in general, takes place in any weather. This program is a big commitment for any teenager, but the personal rewards are endless.
Did you know our Cadets are (mostly) all teenagers and serve as Washington County’s primary ground search and rescue unit?
